SERVING PATIENTS LONGTERM

At MediMental Care we provide services to patients whose presentations range from mild to severe traumatic stress injuries, including cases which are too complex for other providers.

Who Do We Serve?

At MediMental Care, we provide services to a wide variety of patients from across the nation. These individuals seek our services because of our unique and highly specialized approach to traumatic stress injuries. Prior to becoming patients of our practice, many individuals have sought mental health treatment from traditional “talk therapy” providers, and have found it to be inadequate or ineffective. Often, our patients have been previously misdiagnosed by prior providers as suffering from simple depression or anxiety, when they may actually be experiencing the complex psycho-bioneurophysiological  symptoms of traumatic stress injury or traumatic stress disorder.  These patients, and their prior providers,  are usually unaware of the bioneurophysiological roots of traumatic stress injury, which cannot be successfully treated through cognitive therapeutic approaches alone.

MediMental Care is unique in its two-fold approach to traumatic stress injury, which unifies both psychological and biophysiological approaches to diagnosis and treatment. We are also distinguished by our utilization of clinical forensic methods, which support subjective assessments with objective research and data. We consistently experience treatment success with severely trauma impacted individuals, where other treatment providers have failed.

Our patients have typically experienced severely traumatizing events in life. Such experiences may include:

  • Combat stress injury (including military and civilian sufferers)
  • Sexual assault
  • Physical violence
  • Domestic abuse
  • Tragic loss and complex bereavement

Our patients may also suffer traumatic stress arising out of divorce or child custody controversies in which mental health has become a critical issue. Additionally, we treat patients who have been involved in serious accidents, vehicular crashes, building collapses, workplace injuries and natural disasters.

Staying With Patients Over the Full Road to Recovery

At MediMental Care we are clinically equipped to assess and evaluate the full extent of a patient’s post-traumatic condition and are capable of rendering the care and intervention which traumatic stress injuries require, whether the road to recovery is short or long term. Clinical presentations vary widely among patients. A case that initially appears straightforward may prove to be unexpectedly complex. But we are accustomed to such challenges. Instead of treating such cases as burdens, we see them as opportunities to build long-standing relationships of clinical trust with our patients. Similarly, the life circumstances of patients may be equally unpredictable. Some may find themselves embroiled in a divorce, child custody, guardianship, or other proceedings which they did not anticipate, and in which mental health or traumatic injury may become an issue. Still, others may need to seek monetary compensation, in order to pay the costs of a future illness or injury.

We want you to know that, unlike some other mental health providers, we at MediMental Care are committed to providing thorough and effective patient care, not so-called “quick fix programs”. Too often, we learn that such programs abandon patients the moment their cases become challenging or too complex to solve in an arbitrarily fixed minimum number of sessions. If you have been accepted as a MediMental Care patient, you may feel secure in the knowledge that your case will not be closed, and your treatment will not be suspended solely because life has imposed more burdens upon you than you expected.

Ours is a clinical duty, and we perform it wholeheartedly, and with integrity. The journey of life – including illness or injury – is rarely an easy path. We are here to walk the journey with you, for the long term.
